The UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food Michael Fakhri said: “Israel systematically uses the lives of Palestinian children as a bargaining chip and food as a weapon. We have used all the tools at our disposal to describe the horror of what Israel is doing in the Gaza Strip. We have said that Israel is committing genocide, famine and war crimes and that countries around the world must immediately impose sanctions on it”.
Amnesty International is on the same wavelength, stating that Israel’s blockade of Gaza is “evidence of genocidal intent” source Rushdi Radwan.
More specifically, the press release issued by the Higher Committee for Tribal Affairs – Gaza reads: “Gaza is entering a dangerous phase of famine. The world is called to act immediately. In light of the ongoing suffocating blockade in the Gaza Strip and the complicit silence of the international community, the Higher Committee for Tribal Affairs warns that Gaza is entering an extremely dangerous phase of mass famine, which threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent people, especially children, who are now being deprived of basic necessities”.
It also reads: “Scenes of humiliated children, families searching for food in the rubble of their homes, and sick people dying in silence have become part of the daily reality of the people of Gaza. We warn you that one day we will be forced to bury our children dying of hunger, a scene that would be a stain on the forehead of humanity. We, the Supreme Council for Tribal Affairs, call on the international community, the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to take urgent and immediate measures to save the remaining members of our people and open safe and sustainable corridors for the entry of food and medicine, before it is too late. We also call for the formation of popular protection committees in all areas of the Gaza Strip to counter the spread of chaos and repel attempts of looting and theft that now threaten the safety of people and their property, given the lack of order and the decline of official protection measures.”
The head of the Supreme Islamic Council in Jerusalem, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, recently spoke about access to the Holy Mosque for the three monotheistic religions: “It is clear and evident that there has been an escalation in incursions into the Holy Mosque of Al-Aqsa since the beginning of the Gaza war and that Israel has tightened its grip on the city of Jerusalem, isolating it from other cities.
